Scrabbling around collections of amateur and family photos, several common themes naturally emerge. In previous posts I've covered fishing and beachgoing. This time it's pets - mostly dogs. People do love their pets, and they do love to photograph them. Here is just a handful of pet photos from our collection. So it turns out there is no $2billion bushfire recovery fund. Under questioning in the Senate, the federal public servants whose job it was to provide answers to the parliamentary representatives of taxpayers and voters admitted the fund was “notional”. It’s a “notion”, an idea. It exists in theory, but not in practice. There is no allocation of money in the budget. Parliament has not set aside $2billion to help in bushfire recovery. When you have as many old books as I do, or if you rummage among as many old bookshops as I do, you inevitably find many things pressed between pages. Usually you find items that people have used as makeshift bookmarks, but sometimes you discover things that people just wanted pressed flat.
